Alexander Koning (France, 1978) | multidisciplinary artist and videographer – Amsterdam.

For over two decades, I worked as a videographer, documenting human interest stories, documentaries, war zones, natural disasters, and humanitarian crises across more than 50 countries.

These experiences didn’t just inform my understanding of the world; they reshaped my creative path. What once was pure reportage has evolved into a personal artistic journey.

A journey that weaves together visual art, filmmaking, and writing and explores the fragile space between human suffering and creative redemption.

Lately, I’ve also been focused on bridging the gap between classical artistic expression and new technologies, particularly in the realm of AI. I’m fascinated by how we can use these tools not to replace the artist’s creative drive, but to deepen the conversation between machine and art.

Throughout all my work; whether it’s through a lens, a brush, AI or written words, I keep returning to one question: How can we turn the hardships some of us face into meaning?

For me, the answer lies in embracing the rawness of lived experience and channeling it into something that reflects, comforts, and inspires.

Countries I filmed in:

Cuba, Haiti, Mexico, Indonesia, Argentina, Monaco, Thailand, Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Liberia, Cameroon, Libya, Gaza, West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Japan, Ethiopia, Syria, Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, England, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Poland, Italy, Finland, Lithuania, Russia, Spain, Bosnia, Serbia, Greece, United States, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Israel, Denmark, Iceland.
